Are You Redi For An Easier Life?

Imagine it’s the middle of the night……..I know it’s probably not right now, but humour me for a second.

It’s the middle of the night and you’re woken up by your 3-year-old daughter. She’s been running a fever all day and has been sick a few times. She’s now woken up crying. You jump out of bed to comfort her and you can tell she has a burning temperature and is clearly in discomfort. Whilst you’re comforting her you’re trying to see what the time is and trying to remember…..what time did I give her paracetamol earlier? She definitely needs some more medicine, but can I give her more?

You give her another cuddle and tell her you’ll be right back. You stumble downstairs as quickly as you can.  Of course, she’s crying even louder now!  You fumble in your medicine cabinet – shall I give her paracetamol again? But what if I haven’t left enough time?  Perhaps I’ll give her Ibuprofen this time. That should be okay – shouldn’t it?  You realise you don’t have a clean spoon, so throw one under the tap and give it a quick rub so that it sort of resembles clean.

You rush back upstairs with the medicine and spoon and turn on the bedroom light. She’s really upset now and it takes half an hour to calm her down before you can even attempt to give her the medicine, let alone settle her back down to sleep. Eventually, you crawl back into bed….. I’m sure it was okay to give her ibuprofen, wasn’t it? Must remember what time I’ve given it to her! But before you can look at the clock, you’ve fallen asleep.

Sound familiar?

This is a common situation many parents find themselves in.  When a child is ill it can be a stressful, worrying and downright exhausting for parents.  It’s all too easy to forget when you gave the last dose or misplace the medicine altogether. But now you don’t have to worry, thanks to the Medi-Redi storage and timing device.

Who Am I And Why Did I Invent Medi-Redi?

I am Sarah Smith, from Berkshire, mum to Annabelle and George. I invented Medi-Redi, which is a medicine storage and timer designed specifically to store children’s medicine bottles, blister packs, sachets, spoons and syringes.

From about 4 months old my daughter suffered regularly with tonsillitis, which would result in her having a high temperature and being in a lot of pain. This would often last 3 or 4 days and nights.

When I was going through these issues I looked to see if there was anything I could buy to help me, but I soon realised there was nothing on the market that made the process simpler and safer. After my youngest started school I decided to develop something really simple that would make life a little easier and safer for families, and provide parents with some peace of mind.

Finally, after years of research, speaking with medical professionals and working with design and engineering experts, I am delighted to say that the Medi-Redi storage and timer is now available!  It has already had a very positive response from our testers, and we can’t wait to see how useful you find it too.

Benefits Of The Medi-Redi Storage And Timer?

The Medi-Redi timer can be programmed for one or several medicines. There may be occasions when you have to alternate between two medicines like paracetamol and ibuprofen, now you can easily without any confusion. The screen clearly shows the name of the medicine and the dose, so now you can share the responsibility (and sleepless nights) with your partner.

You might decide to give your child medicine before they go to bed and then wait and see if they wake up in the night and need more. Now you can keep your Medi-Redi timer close by.  While it is counting down until the next dose it will show a red light, and when it is safe to give more medicine the light will change to green. It will also sound an alarm, though you can turn it off at night if you prefer! Now if you’re woken up in the middle of the night by your child needing more medicine, all you need to do is glance at your Medi-Redi timer and you will immediately know whether or not it is safe to give more medicine.

If the light is green all you need to do is take it to your child.  It will clearly show on the display which medicine is due and how much to give. You don’t even have to put the bedroom light on, as there’s a handy night-light inside. Just give the medicine and put it back inside, press the reset button, close the door and it will countdown until the next dose – simple!

Another useful feature is the medicine history. The Medi-Redi automatically keeps a log of which medicines have been administered and when. This makes it perfect when sharing childcare with perhaps a childminder, nursery and even grandparents. No more worrying about double dosing when you leave your child with someone else – just give them a pre-programmed Medi-Redi timer and you’re good to go!

It’s equipped with child-resistant, ISO certified opening buttons, so medicines can be stored safely out of reach, is light, compact and portable – handy when travelling or going on holiday.
